Loft Conversions

When thinking about a loft conversion you have to consider the type of existing roof structure whether it is modern trussed rafter construction or traditional construction with purlins and props providing an open spaces within the existing roof.

Loft conversions will normally involve the formation of a new floor structure, new access stairs within an enclosure with fire performance and a door at the bottom or top of the stairs, upgrading roof insulation at rafter level with new ceiling linings, creation of roof windows or dormer windows (dormer windows require planning permission), replacement of roof water storage tanks with pressurized water systems and installation of mains operated inter-linked smoke alarm systems, etc.
